Karen has extensive experience in general common law practising in London and on circuit over the last 20 years. She practices in criminal, civil, and family law. She has regularly appeared in the Magistrates, Youth, Crown and County Courts literally across the Country, from Cardiff to Suffolk and from Leicester to Hove. She has also acquired a particular expertise in road traffic cases, including speed camera and drink driving. This experience transfers across to civil hearings concerning road traffic accidents in County Court disputes.

Karen has a wide and varied experience of Criminal matters including violence, sexual offences and fraud, including confiscation hearings. Karen has also dealt with hunt saboteur cases. Mental Health issues have been dealt with both before Mental Health tribunals and within Criminal cases. She recently received in house domestic violence training with CPS Dorset and has dealt with a considerable number of such cases over the years. She also has completed the Sexual Offences and Rape courses with the Bar Council over the last two years. She is a grade two Prosecutor for CPS and again has many years experience working for the CPS around the country in Crown and Magistrates Courts.

In the Family Courts she has dealt with children cases, contact and residence, child abduction and care. Her criminal experience of domestic violence also enhances her experience with injunctive relief. She has had conduct of a care case with a QC leader at the High Court which included murder and extreme sexual abuse.

   
   
Jean Marie Labelle

Jean Marie Labelle came to the Bar in 1992 from a scientific background and his early career was spent in civil and employment litigation. However, since the year 2000, other areas were added to the practice including immigration and family law. His areas of expertise also include criminal prosecutions.

He is currently also involved in delivering Legal training to a number of organisations.

Terence deals with most aspects of employment law. He is pleased to advise prior to the issuing of dismissal notices or proceedings. He is pragmatic and commercially aware. Having worked in private practice prior to being called to the Bar he understands the needs of Solicitors and their clients. He has experience in the Employment Tribunals and the High and County Courts. He acts on behalf of both Respondents and Claimants. Areas of work include dealing with claims for Unfair, Constructive and Wrongful dismissal, Sex, Race, and Disability discrimination, Redundancy, Restrictive covenants.

He has been instructed in various sporting fields. The work consisted of employment and/or commercial litigation and advice. He has been instructed by, Portsmouth FC, Exeter City FC, Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic, Bristol Rugby, Ice Hockey UK and the British National Ice Hockey League.

Terence also deals with RTA Personal Injury claims in the Fast and Multi Track. Sometimes coupled with the issue of liability in the RTA itself. He also undertakes matters concerning accidents at work. As well as trials he also deals with the drafting of proceedings and advice on liability and quantum.

   
   
Clare Atkin

Clare came to the Bar following a career at the Department of Trade and Industry (Insolvency Service and Companies Investigation Branch). She has acted as an Inspector in an insider Dealing Inspection.

She has a particular interest in personal and corporate insolvency matters and has extensive experience of Company Director Disqualification proceedings. She is happy to advise and act at all stages of proceedings.

She also regularly deals with Fast and Multi Track personal injury claims and is an experienced trial advocate.

She has acted for the Treasury Solicitor’s Department in numerous cases involving physical and psychiatric injuries suffered by prisoners and prison employees, unlawful detention and other prison related matters both in an advisory capacity and at trial.
   
   
Anne Crossfield

Anne has practised at the Bar and worked as a lawyer in-house for 18 years. Anne has both prosecuted and defended in the criminal courts, and done a mixture of civil work including personal injury and immigration. Anne has published work in the financial services field, having previously worked in the City of London as an Equity Broker and in Compliance. In addition, Anne has taught Civil Litigation and Equity Finance on the Legal Practice Course for trainee solicitors.

Currently Anne is moving her practice areas into:

Criminal Law
Prosecution of Human Trafficking cases and the prosecution of other related matters, as well as into Immigration Law, and Human Rights Law

Civil Law
Financial Services work: banking; insurance; venture capital; corporate finance
Anne has a background in financial services and works in the City of London, with which her career has been connected in investment and in the law.

She is a member of the Anti-Fraud Network of lawyers.
   
   
Louise Thomas

Louise has experience in the Magistrates' Court and Youth Court defending and prosecuting in a broad range of hearings. Louise has dealt with fully contested summary trials involving serious offences and has also been instructed in the Crown Court for sentencing, appeal against conviction & sentence and bail applications (Wood Green, Croydon, Blackfriars and Inner London Crown Courts).

Louise has prosecuted for the Crown Prosecution Service, the Department of Work and Pensions, The Child Support Agency and the National Probation Trust in both the Magistrates' and the Crown Court.

Louise has also dealt with civil hearings in the County Court and High Court. These included Mortgage and Rent Possessions, Suspension of Warrants, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Hearings, applications to set aside judgments and statutory demands, Infant Settlement Hearings, Credit Hire Litigation and Small Claim Road Traffic Accidents.
